Such an important question: How long is this eviction going to take? And the short answer is, best case, 30 days.
The process generally begins with your notice. After that time lapses, whether it be a 3-day, a 30-day, or a 60-day notice, you will then likely file and serve the complaint. Tenants will then have the opportunity to file and serve their response.
From that point forward, it truly depends on what is transpiring in the case. Sometimes tenants are open to negotiating, and an early resolution becomes possible.
Other times, tenants are represented by free attorneys provided by the government, and lengthy litigation can happen.
It is known that tenants will delay the matter, every which way that they can. Even if that means demanding a jury trial in a simple eviction matter.
Now, no two cases are alike, and you may have questions on whether you should be filing an eviction and how long it can take. Feel free to call our office, we’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
